A Night of Fun to remember the legacy of Girl Scout Joan D’Alessandro

The Joan Angela D’Alessandro Foundation is having a fundraiser. It is our hope that during this year, the 100th Anniversary of the Girl Scouts, that there will be many children in the Girl Scouts who will attend in honor of Joan’s memory and the lives that she has helped. It will be an evening of fun at The Sports Place, 600 Bradley Parkway, Blauvelt, New York (2 miles south of the Palisades Mall) on Saturday, March 10th from 6:30-9:30pm. There will be Glo-Putt mini golf, basketball, soccer, arcade games and inflatable rides. There will be a police officer speaking on child safety, live music and raffles. Tickets are $20 per child and $50 for a family with 3 children or more. Parents are free. For more information and to register go to the Foundation’s website at www.Joansjoy.org or contact Rosemarie D’Alessandro at rosebd@email.com or 201-664-9140.  For those who cannot make it to the event donations are gladly accepted.

The Foundation is set up in memory of Joan Angela D’Alessandro, the 7 year old child, who went to deliver Girl Scout cookies to a neighbor and never came back. Her body was found on Easter Sunday.

The goals of the Foundation, which is nonprofit, are to promote child safety and protection, advance victims’ rights and help abused, homeless and neglected youth. Joan’s legacy lives on through the Foundation. Money raised from this event will go towards the Foundation’s annual effort to provide fun and educational excursions for the children of the Father English Center in Paterson and provide a speaker focusing on antiviolence, anti bullying and character building in the local high schools. Money raised will also go towards sponsoring at-risk youth to go to the YAP™ summer camp, school and service group programs run by Tails of Hope Foundation. It gives youth an opportunity to learn valuable lessons and gain knowledge on possible careers working with service dogs. It will be a great evening that will bring awareness to child protection in a comfortable and fun setting.
