The Nyack Library, with support from the New York Council for the Humanities, is excited to offer Together—Book Talk for Kids and Parents, a twice monthly family reading and discussion series for children ages 9 – 11 and a caregiver, that runs from February 15 – May 2, 2012.
“Together offers families a chance to discuss books in a meaningful format. These discussions give kids the chance to enjoy reading outside of school and gives parents the opportunity to share the books their kids are reading,” says Council Executive Director Sara Ogger. At The Nyack Library, the discussion leaders will be Claudia Uccellani, Youth Librarian, and Kara Sheridan, Portfolio Coordinator/Resource Specialist at Long Island University – Rockland Campus. They will lead six discussion sessions, each focused on a book related to themes of American identity. “We are very excited to join in this endeavor to foster thoughtful discussion, a love of reading and family bonding in our community”, says Aldona Pilmanis, Head of Youth Services at The Nyack Library.
The Together program is designed to promote lively, thought-provoking intergenerational dialogue. The program is free and open to the public, although pre-registration is required.
