Joe Delia's Thieves and Special Guest Richard Belzer: A Night of Comedy and Rock and Roll at The Turning Point

Richard Belzer and Joe Delia reunite on a co-billing at the Turning Point on Jan. 8.

Belzer will bring a set of stand up comedy, followed by a set of powerful rock and roll from Delia's band Thieves.

Most famous for his role as Detective John Munch in Law and Order Special Victims Unit, Belzer was a seminal force in the world of stand up comedy, influencing a generation of comics to follow. As well as being a frequent guest on Howard Stern, John Stewart and Bill Maher's shows, he starred in Homicide Life on the Streets, has published numerous books including two novels, and has too many film and television credits to list. In the words of Richard Pryor....."Belz, you're one funny mutha".

Award winning musician Joe Delia is internationally known for his film scores including King of New York, Bad Lieutenant, The Funeral, and China Girl, and has composed scores for over thirty feature films, including Carlito's Way (Rise to Power), the Tao of Steve, The Substitute II, and hundreds of television episodes. He also toured extensively with David Johansen (New York Dolls) and was musical director, pianist and arranger for the Buster Poindexter show and record that brought the world the hit "Hot, Hot, Hot". Joe Delia has toured or recorded with Pat Benetar, Dave Edmunds, Richard Belzer, Chuck Berry Jon BonJovi, Little Steven, Stevie Wonder, Dusty Springfield, Grace Slick, The Left Banke, Cory Daye (Savannah Band),Janis Ian, Stanley Turrentine and Freddie Hubbard.

Thieves features Steven "Muddy" Roues, on bass, harp and vocals, Billy Roues on guitar and lead vocals,Paul Undersinger on drums, Lisa Freud on vocals and percussion, PJ Delia on background vocals and Joe Delia on piano, Hammond organ and vocals.   Thieves brings a bag of originals and classic R&B, blues and rock and roll, including cuts from Delia's previous album "Killer Joe" (Scene of the Crime) released on BMG/Music Masters.
