At CAW (Creative Arts Workshop), our mission is to nurture creativity, confidence, and connection through the arts. We believe that every child deserves a space to explore their imagination, express themselves freely, and build social-emotional skills through creative play. CAW offers after-school arts programs, camps, workshops, and community events that blend visual art, theatre, music, movement, and nature-based learning. Our spaces are welcoming, inclusive, and designed to help young artists — and their families — find community through creativity, kindness, and accessibility. A 5K Run and Walk through Nyack and Upper Nyack, turning around at Marydell and back down Midland to finish at Nyack Hospital.  A scenic, flat 5K run and walk, you can run, walk, skip or stroll for 3.1 miles and enjoy a crisp fall day! A health fair will take place at the Hospital as well, FREE for all to attend, whether registered for the race or not.  Open to the community.

Legendary drummer, Eliot Zigmund, who worked/recorded with Bill Evans, Michel Petrucciani, Stan Getz, Chet Baker and other jazz luminaries, returns to Maureen's Jazz Cellar in Nyack, NY on Friday, September 11 with one set from 8-930 pm. His quintet features Rick Savage, trumpet, Matt Garrison, saxophone, David Janeway, piano and Dominic Duval Jr on bass. Reservations suggested by calling 845 535-3143.

The Jay Heritage Center in Rye, New York will celebrate America at 250 with a toast to Jay Medal honorees Pulitzer Prize-winning author Annette Gordon-Reed, the Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard University and award-winning Lincoln historian Harold Holzer.
The Jay Medal for Service was created in 2012 to recognize individuals who demonstrate a selfless spirit of commitment to and engagement with their community mirroring the multifaceted contributions of John Jay and his descendants. These honorees have demonstrated through their life's work that our shared narratives as a country, complicated as they are, can be better illuminated through the highest caliber of ongoing scholarship and advocacy. Honorees are selected for their excellence in the fields of American history, environmental stewardship, social justice or civic engagement.
Joining the celebration will be Chief Judge of the State of New York and the New York Court of Appeals, Honorable Rowan D. Wilson and historian and philanthropist Elihu Rose who will present the awards at JHC's annual Soirée. Special guests will include David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman, and Beverly Gage.

The Jay Medal Soirée will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Jay Estate from 5:30-9:30pm. Cocktails, dinner, award ceremony and dancing. Cocktail Attire.
