Hood First County Legislator To Hit the Airwaves as Rockland Radio Station Goes Online Only

He appeared on WRCR's 'Steve & Jordan Show' via the Internet.

Rockland County Legislator Jay Hood Jr. was a guest on Thursday’s Steve & Jordan Show on WRCR – the first County Legislator to hit the “airwaves” via the internet.

The radio station in Rockland County, WRCR previously broadcast local radio programming on AM 1700 before embracing the digital communications movement and turning exclusively to live streaming via the internet and mobile apps in November.

By doing so, it connected to a trend that has led some radio programming to move to internet-only, satellite-only or smartphone or mobile app-only access.

“It was exciting to participate in this new endeavor,” Hood said. “Technology is driving the way people consume information today and WRCR has decided it is time to provide its content in a different way. Some people will always prefer to turn on a radio, but there is no doubt this movement to the internet continues to grow.”

To make those who may be unaware of how to connect to WRCR, Hood (D-Haverstraw) said it was as simple as using a laptop, desktop computer or tablet to visit WRCR.com. He said WRCR could also be accessed by installing an app on a tablet or smartphone.

“It is not always easy to embrace change, but hopefully our Rockland community will do just that to help ensure we continue to have an avenue where we can share information and voice our opinions,” Hood said.

The Steve & Jordan show runs 6-10 a.m. Mondays through Fridays. Steve Possell and Jordan Baker and their many guests keep Rockland up to speed on all fronts.
