We believe that every child deserves a space to explore their imagination, express themselves freely, and build social-emotional skills through creative play. CAW offers after-school arts programs, camps, workshops, and community events that blend visual art, theatre, music, movement, and nature-based learning. Our spaces are welcoming, inclusive, and designed to help young artists — and their families — find community through creativity, kindness, and accessibility. Mackenzie Johnson, an 8th grader, put her name in the Nyack softball record book Tuesday, recording 20 of 21 outs by strikeout in a 6-1 victory over Ossining. Tiffany Salcito sparked the offense with a home run and three runs scored as the Indians opened their season with a victory.  Nyack plays at home against Clarkstown North 4 p.m. Thursday.

Legendary drummer, Eliot Zigmund, who worked/recorded with Bill Evans, Michel Petrucciani, Stan Getz, Chet Baker and other jazz luminaries, returns to Maureen's Jazz Cellar in Nyack, NY on Friday, September 11 with one set from 8-930 pm. His quintet features Rick Savage, trumpet, Matt Garrison, saxophone, David Janeway, piano and Dominic Duval Jr on bass. Reservations suggested by calling 845 535-3143.

The Jay Heritage Center in Rye, New York will celebrate America at 250 with a toast to Jay Medal honorees Pulitzer Prize-winning author Annette Gordon-Reed, the Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard University and award-winning Lincoln historian Harold Holzer.
The Jay Medal for Service was created in 2012 to recognize individuals who demonstrate a selfless spirit of commitment to and engagement with their community mirroring the multifaceted contributions of John Jay and his descendants. These honorees have demonstrated through their life's work that our shared narratives as a country, complicated as they are, can be better illuminated through the highest caliber of ongoing scholarship and advocacy. Honorees are selected for their excellence in the fields of American history, environmental stewardship, social justice or civic engagement.
Joining the celebration will be Chief Judge of the State of New York and the New York Court of Appeals, Honorable Rowan D. Wilson and historian and philanthropist Elihu Rose who will present the awards at JHC's annual Soirée. Special guests will include David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman, and Beverly Gage.

The Jay Medal Soirée will be held Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Jay Estate from 5:30-9:30pm. Cocktails, dinner, award ceremony and dancing. Cocktail Attire.
