Letter To The Editor: Stop South Nyack Sale Of Neighbor Parking
The writer is a resident of the soon-to-be-dissolved village.

To the Editor:
Help? The South Nyack Village Board has accepted an offer from Durso Trucking to sell both the DPW and the adjoining public parking lot.
Many of our residents do not have room for a driveway and TOTALLY DEPEND on these 26 parking spaces on Brookside Avenue because overnight parking on the streets is not allowed. In spite of repeated assurances to the contrary, the board committed to this sale at the December Board meeting.

Now the board has rejected a cash offer higher than the appraised value for the parking lot without public discussion according to their commercial realtor, Paul Adler.
In addition, John Durso will not consider amending his purchase offer so that this conflict can be settled peacefully.

If we do not act, no parking will be available and will lead to the disintegration of the neighborhood and cause property values to decline by $50,000 to $100,000 each. All of the houses with no driveways go into foreclosure with no street parking allowances – specifically homes on Brookside, White and Clinton Avenues.
What can we do?
Please contribute to our fund to hire an attorney to let our judicial system rule once again that "spot zoning" is illegal as the board tries to meet Durso's contingency of changing the zoning from R-4 residential to commercial so that Durso Trucking of Congers can run their trucks through our neighborhood streets - even their 18 wheelers and trash container haulers!!!
And finally - please attend the February 8th open hearing at the village hall at 7:30 pm to let your voice be heard and/or email our Mayor Bonnie Christian, bonnie.christian@SouthNyack.NY.gov, who apparently reads these emails into the public record at the board meetings.
Thank you for your support of your neighbors!!!
