Local College Soccer Sees Defeat

Nyack College, STAC teams eliminated from NCAA Tournament

The men’s soccer teams at Nyack College and St. Thomas Aquinas College were both eliminated over the weekend in the NCAA National Tournament on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH.

The Spartans of Sparkill (14-4-4), directed by Coach Graham Brown, bowed in the Round of 16 to undefeated and top-seeded Franklin Pierce, 5-0, after upending NYIT, 4-1, in their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance.

Franklin Pierce of Rindge, NH, lifted its record to 20-0-1.

Nyack, the Central Athletic Collegiate Conference champion, was also making its first-ever national tournament appearance, but lost to C.W. Post University 3-1. The Warriors finished the season at 13-6-2 under Coach Keith Davie.

C.W. Post, which had lost 1-0 at Nyack on Oct. 18, elevated its record to 17-2-1.
