Nyack Animation Shop Scores In Juried Art Show

NYACK-PIERMONT, NY - From CGMuse: When the Katonah area's Anderson Chase Gallery opened submissions for their juried “Call of the Wild” exhibit, they didn't expect the enormous response from artists across the entire Northeast. Works in oils, acrylics, pen & ink, fiber, photography and sculpture were chosen for the show – including Call By The Cretaceous Shore, an ink on paper digital still from Nyack animation company CGMuse's iPad app Real World Dinosaurs.

“Animators are trained as fine artists first,” says CGMuse's C.A. MacFinn, who studied Life Drawing and Life Sculpture at the Vytlacil campus of the Art Students League, and had intensive fine art training in animation school at FIT and elsewhere. “We may be using the computer as our medium, but our instruments are still our eyes, hands and our perceptions of the world around us, translated through the world in our heads.”

“For Real World Dinosaurs, we drew on science and the natural world and used our art toolbox to translate it” into animation of dinosaurs from different geological periods, MacFinn continues, “So it was great to be recognized in this show as artists who are inspired by nature, telling the story of animals who lived on our own earth, not on some alien planet.”

The Artist's Reception for “The Call of The Wild” is Saturday, November 18th from 3:30 – 5:30. The exhibit runs November 13th – December 29th at The Anderson Chase Gallery, 65 Old Bedford Rd., Goldens Bridge, NY 10526. Call By The Cretaceous Shore by C.A.
