Nyack Experiments: 15 Minutes of Free Parking
It's another twist to the village's unusual downtown parking regulations.

Downtown Nyack is a busy place, with lots of businesses and things to do -- and people looking for parking and complaining about parking.
According to the Nyack Free Press, village officials are responding with a new initiative to help both businesses and customers who just need a little time: 15 minutes of free parking.
The “Free 15” project lets you push a button on the village’s munimeters to get a printed ticket for 15 minutes of free parking. You need more time -- pay for parking.

Nyack’s parking meters are in effect from 11am to 6pm, and 11pm to 6am. Parking is free on Sundays from 6am until midnight. (On-street parking is 25¢ for 15 minutes; parking lots are 25¢ for 20 minutes.)
The Nyack Chamber of Commerce is enthusiastic about the initiative.
“We definitely support it,” said President Scott Baird. “It’s a chance for people who do local shopping to jump in and jump out.”
