Nyack Plaza Residents Get Vandalized Mailboxes Replaced After Months of Waiting

State Sen. David Carlucci intervened on learning residents had to walk to the Post Office to get their mail.

Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) visited residents of Nyack Plaza to announce new mailboxes have been ordered for the complex this week.

Residents have had to walk to the local post office for months to pick up their mail because the postal service would not deliver mail to the broken mailboxes for security reasons.

The old mailboxes were broken months ago by vandals.

The new boxes will allow USPS to deliver mail directly to the residents and will be installed in the next two weeks.

Carlucci learned of the situation on a recent visit with Nyack Plaza residents.

“It’s hard to believe residents here have not been able to get their mail delivered for several months,” he said. “We’re here today to show that we are going to be watching to make sure this problem gets fixed as soon as possible. No resident, especially our seniors, should have to deal with the inconvenience of not receiving their mail in a timely manner.”

Resident Joann Saunders said was pleased with Carlucci’s intervention.

“After weeks of trying to get this situation resolved, it seemed like there was no solution in sight,” she said. “Working together with Seator Carlucci we have shown that we can get real results for the tenants living here in Nyack Plaza.”
