Nyack Village Officials React To Anti-Semitic Graffiti

Orangetown police have begun an investigation, officials said.

NYACK, NY — The Village of Nyack took to the pages of Facebook to respond to the anti-semitic graffiti found in a local Starbucks. The post said that the mayor, village board and everyone at the village hall were "horrified" to hear about the graffiti.

"The brazen hatred conveyed by this symbol of murder and destruction is the antithesis of what our inclusive and kind village has always been known for," the post said.

Orangetown police were notified Monday and immediately began an investigation, village officials said.

State Senator David Carlucci, a Democrat representing Rockand and Westchester, said anti-semitism must always be denounced when it is seen.

"These disgusting symbols are meant to insight fear and have no place in our community. The fullest force of the law must be applied here, and we should make hateful images like this a felony hate crime," he said.
