Orangetown Police Use Narcan to Save Man from Drug Overdose
They had recently been trained to administer the internasal antidote—this was the first time an Orangetown officer had used it.

A Orangetown Police Officer administered Intranasal Naloxone—also known as “Narcan” —to save the life of a Nyack man at a residence on South Franklin Street in Nyack.
Officers responded there at 6:16 p.m. Oct. 30 after receiving a 911 call reporting a possible drug overdose. They found the 49-year-old unresponsive with little or no respiratory function.
One of the officers administered Intranasal Narcan via a nasal spray which resulted in immediate improvement of the victim’s condition.

Rockland paramedics responded shortly thereafter and administered further lifesaving measures. Then the man was taken by Nyack Ambulance to Nyack Hospital for additional treatment.
Orangetown police officers recently received training conducted by Rockland Paramedic Services in the administration of Intranasal Naloxone. This is the first deployment of Narcan by an OPD Officer.
