Piermont Police Make Traffic Stop Then Drug Bust

A New York City man has been sent to Rockland County Jail on $3,500 bail.

Piermont Village Police stopped a car on Route 9W at 11 a.m. Nov. 7 for a traffic infraction.

Then when the officer began interviewing the driver, he smelled marijuana emanating from inside. Subsequent investigation found the hallucinogen MDMA as well.

Darnel Thomas, 34, of New York City, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, and criminal possession of a hallucinogen, a felony.

Thomas was arraigned by Piermont Justice Laura Wiess, and sent to the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $3,500 bail. He is due back in Piermont Justice Court on Nov. 12.
