Porch Chairs on Fire in Nyack: Under Investigation

Rockland County arson bureau has joined Orangetown police and fire inspector and the county's Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

At about 2:10 a.m July 4 the Orangetown Police Department received a report of a possible porch fire at 120 Sixth Ave in Nyack.

Responding officers reported that a porch chair was on fire at the residence and had spread to the roof of the porch. Approximately 30 minutes later another report was received of a porch fire at 98 Sixth Ave. with similar circumstances of a porch chair that was on fire.

The Nyack Fire Department responded to both scenes and the fires were extinguished.

The Rockland County Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Rockland County Arson Investigators, Orangetown Police, and the Orangetown Fire Inspector all responded to the scenes and there is an ongoing investigation at this time as to the cause of the fires.
