Preparing for Emergencies in Nyack and Piermont
September is a double preparedness month, so here are some tips from Rockland officials for Nyack and Piermont residents.

NYACK, NY — It's both National Preparedness Month and Hurricane Preparedness Month. Rockland County Executive Ed Day and County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert urge residents to take action and get ready!
"The threat of Hurricane Hermine last week, which luckily did not impact our area, reminds us that weather can change at a moment's notice. Now is a good time to review, update, or begin your personal and home emergency preparedness plans," said Dr. Ruppert in a press release.
After an emergency, help will be on the scene, but they can't reach everyone right away. Help can come in hours, or it might take days. Basic services such as electricity, gas, water, sewage treatment, and telephones may be cut off.
