Rockland County Updates Coronavirus Isolation Order

Rockland County's Standing Isolation Order for mandatory isolation has been updated to include people diagnosed by symptoms only.

NYACK, NY – Rockland County's Standing Isolation Order for mandatory isolation in order to help prevent the spread of the new coronavirus has been updated to include people who have been diagnosed by their medical providers based upon symptoms only and without a test, officials announced Monday.

In accordance with the isolation order, people who have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, are required to stay home for at least seven days after the illness started and at least three days after being fever free without taking medicine to reduce the fever. If they do not do so, they may be fined up to $2,000 per day.

The most significant update to the order is the inclusion of a clinical diagnosis by a medical provider by symptom only, with no lab test. A person with this diagnosis but adhere to the same isolation orders as someone whose COVID-19 test results were positive.
