They were sitting together in a car at the time of the shooting, police said.
ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — Valley Cottage teen Collyer Goodman pleaded guilty over the shooting death of a Chicago man who was visiting Nyack in August, Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh announced.
Goodman appeared before the Honorable Kevin F. Russo in Rockland County Court Monday morning and pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon for the shooting death of Darien Brydie, 21.
Brydie was in a car with Goodman in the parking lot of Nyack Plaza when he was shot, Orangetown police said at the time. Brydie was pronounced dead at Montefiore Nyack Hospital. Goodman was initially charged with second-degree manslaughter and first-degree reckless endangerment, felonies, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.

“Today’s guilty plea is a culmination of a thorough investigation and a vigorous prosecution," Walsh said Monday. "We can’t lose sight of the fact that the victim, Darien Brydie, can’t see his family and they must live each day without him being present.”
