
PIERMONT, NY — South Orangetown voters approved the spending plan for 2017-18 proposed by their Board of Education, according to the district website. Voters also approved extending the life of the existing capital reserve fund by five years and adding budget surpluses, if any, up to $15 million. And they OK'd using existing capital reserve funds up to $9.8 million for needed improvements to school facilities.
One incumbent and one challenger were elected to to the South Orangetown Central School District Board of Education, according to the website. Vote totals were not available.
Christine Lee was elected, ousting incumbent DeVincenzo and beating Ira Steinberg, the other challenger for the seat.

Incumbent Leon “Lonnie” Jacobs was re-elected, defeating Scott Vanderhoef for his seat.
