STAC to Host "Cell Phone to Cell Block: Solving the Murder of Peggy Nadell"

"Cell Phone to Cell Block: Solving the Murder of Peggy Nadell" A Panel Discussion by the Criminal Justice

(SPARKILL, NY – April 12, 2016)--St. Thomas Aquinas College’s Criminal Justice Advisory Board will host “Cell Phone to Cell Block: Solving the Murder of Peggy Nadell,” announces Dr. Ellen Chayet, professor of criminal justice at the College. The event is scheduled for Monday, April 18, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the College’s Lougheed Library. The event is free and open to the public.

The presentation will focus on a fascinating local murder case that was successfully investigated despite the absence of traditional forensic evidence. Chief Michael Sullivan, Clarkstown Police Department, will introduce the panel and Lieutenant Glenn Dietrich, Commanding Officer, Detective Bureau, Clarkstown Police Department, will serve as program moderator. Panelists will include: Sgt. Stephen J. Cole-Hatchard, Director, Rockland County Strategic Intelligence Unit, Clarkstown Police Department; Sgt. Earl Lorence, Clarkstown Police Department; and Executive Assistant District Attorney Richard K. Moran, Office of the Rockland County District Attorney. A networking reception with the Criminal Justice Advisory board will follow the panel discussion.

“We are excited to host this year’s annual Criminal Justice Advisory Board panel discussion,” says Dr. Chayet. “Our speakers are professionals from the Clarkstown, NY Police Department and the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office who were instrumental in investigating and prosecuting this crime. They will offer our audience an insider’s look into the world of modern law enforcement which is increasingly relying on technology and strategic intelligence analysis to solve crimes. This case -- which was recently featured on Dateline NBC -- promises an intriguing discussion for our students and others interested in contemporary crime and criminal justice,” Dr. Chayet adds.
