Talking to Students about Rockland's Fight Against Illegal Housing and Code Violations
Students in the Rockland BOCES Career and Technical Education Criminal Justice program visited with Assemblyman Kenneth Zebrowski.
On October 11, students participating in the Rockland BOCES Career and Technical Education (CTEC) Criminal Justice program received a special visit by New York State Assemblyman Kenneth P. Zebrowski, a leader in Rockland County's battle against illegal housing and rampant fire, building and zoning code violations.
Topics of discussion included the pervasive lack of code enforcement in some local municipalities, efforts to strengthen state oversight, public service, leadership and volunteerism.
Rockland BOCES' Criminal Justice curriculum includes a 79-hour fire science component, which helps to prepare high school students for the "Firefighter I" certification, an exam required by New York State to become a volunteer firefighter.
