Rena Finkelstein, a long time resident of Piermont and the long time President of NAMI, hosted its annual awards celebration last evening, Wednesday, which was emceed by Piermont's beloved Didi Conn and Tappan's Steve Dunlop with music by Piermont's David Shire and the international keyboardist Joe Delia. NAMI, the voice of our mentally ill brothers and sisters gave the this year's awards, the Florence Gould Gross Awards, named after the late local advocacy icon, to Elliot Eichler, the New York State Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research and Orangetown County Legislator and President of the Rockland Psychiatric Center Board of Visitors. NAMI, also conamed with FAMILYA, has been in the front ranks of the battle to bring research, treatment, care and dignity to our mentally ill loved ones. For more info visit www.namirockland.org.
