Wrong-Way Driving Leads To Weapons Charge: PD
Police initially stopped him because he was going the wrong direction on a state road.
NYACK, NY — A Rockland County man faces a range of charges after being stopped for going the wrong way in the Village of Nyack, Orangetown police said. Anthony O. Middleton, 32, of Spring Valley, was identified as the driver of a black 2008 BMW that was traveling east in the westbound lanes of Route 59.
After checking with the state Department of Motor Vehicles, police said Middleton's driving privileges had been suspended 10 times on seven different dates.
He was taken into custody and his vehicle was impounded, police said.

During a search of the BMW, police said they found a 12-gauge shotgun in the trunk. Due to a prior felony conviction on Middleton's criminal record, the possession of the weapon is illegal, authorities said.
Police also said they found two fraudulent New Jersey temporary license plates in his car.

Middletown was was taken to Orangetown Police Headquarters and charged with two counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument, felonies, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, misdemeanors.
He was arraigned in the Nyack Justice Court and is scheduled to return at a future date to answer the charges.
