City Manager Fonda Chronis warns the aid isn’t guaranteed long-term, so it won’t fund recurring expenses, while leaders in both Ogdensburg and Watertown push for more stable state support.

• Energy developers in Ogdensburg will need to make annual payments to if they want tax breaks (northcountrynow.com) — Ogdensburg’s city council has voted to require renewable energy developers to negotiate payment-in-lieu-of-taxes (PILOT) agreements before receiving any property tax exemptions. The new local law, effective immediately, covers solar, wind, battery storage and other large projects, aiming to support clean energy while ensuring big installations help pay for city services and infrastructure. No specific projects were discussed yet, but future proposals must follow these rules.
