With environmental reviews advancing at Shade Roller, the city may issue a redevelopment RFP later this year, aiming to line up a preferred developer and potential brownfield tax credits before cleanup is fully certified. 
2. N.Y. fire chief stands by 5-firefighter minimum as city cuts staffing (firerescue1.com) — Ogdensburg’s fire chief is warning that cutting minimum on-duty staffing from five to four firefighters on some shifts could affect safety, even as city officials push the change to reduce overtime costs. Union leaders argue the move violates their contract and a prior court ruling, while the city manager insists it’s about fixing outdated language and saving taxpayers money without layoffs.
3. OBPA says study highlights need for OBPA's proposed child care center to SLC (northcountrynow.com) — A new child care center planned by the Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority could open already full, as officials say St. Lawrence County faces a severe shortage of slots. OBPA leaders describe funding challenges that are forcing centers to close or raise rates, and explain that an experienced partner will operate the Ogdensburg-area facility to support working families and local employers.
4. Town of Fowler free rabies vaccination clinic draws 173 animals (dailygazette.com) — Rabies vaccination clinics are coming to Ogdensburg this September and October as part of St. Lawrence County’s free, countywide prevention program for pets. After recent rabid wildlife cases in Gouverneur, health officials are urging residents to pre-register, keep pets’ shots current, and follow safety steps for any bites, bat encounters, or suspected exposures.
