Deirdre Sinnott, author of "The Third Mrs. Galway," will discuss the real history behind her new historical novel, "The Loyalist's Wife." She will read, answer questions as well as sell and sign books. It’s 1777 in New York’s fertile Mohawk Valley, and tenant farmers Jane and Philip Hopper have very different ideas about the war for independence that has consumed the 13 colonies. Oneida County History Center presents “The Sound of America - 250 Years,” featuring Monk Rowe and The Five Families Ensemble at the History &amp; Artisans Day in Oriskany. This concert commemorates the American Semiquincentennial, using music to explore the legacy of the American Revolution and our 250-year journey as a nation. The performance highlights themes such as patriotism, inequality, and freedom, as well as regional history like the Erie Canal and the melody of “Taps.” The ensemble brings historic songs to life, with background stories and relevant quotes from the eras, all set to the unique sound of American music, now heard ‘round the world.Inclement weather location: Oriskany High School auditorium, 1312 Utica St., Oriskany, NY 13424
