Al Otero: 80

Albert V. Otero of  Ossining and formerly of Dobbs Ferry, N.Y, died peacefully at Phelps Hospital on Saturday, June 15,  2013.

Al was born October 11, 1932  in Yonkers to the late Francesco and Josefa (Rodriguez) Otero.  He was 80 years old and the youngest of 8 children.

Al proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force.  He worked for Prudential Insurance Company for 30 years, retiring in 1988.  While at Prudential, he was awarded many Presidential Citations and other honors.  In 1989 he formed the Albert V. Otero Financial Services business and retired in November 2012.

He is survived by his devoted wife,  Mary Ann (Lisella), loving sons Craig (Debbie)  and Mark (Sandy) Bennett, adoring  grandchildren, Jackson, Delilah, Maverick Bennett  and Paris Otero and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Albert was predeceased by his seven siblings and first wife Sherwyn Ann Otero (Bennett).

Albert was an active  parishioner  in St. Augustine’s parish and worked tirelessly for the church.  He selflessly volunteered with the Midnight Run since its inception in 2005 at the parish.  He was the recipient of the St. Augustine’s Service Award in 2010.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus –Council 311 since 2004.  

Al’s passion was helping others and making a difference in their lives.  His endless energy and compassion  for others was inspiring to many.  He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Reposing at Dorsey Funeral Home  Monday 4-8 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 AM at St. Augustine’s Church, Ossining, N.Y.  Interment will follow at Augustine’s Cemetery, Ossining, N.Y.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Midnight Run or St. Augustine’s  Church, 381 N. Highland Ave., Ossining, NY  10562 in Al’s memory would be appreciated.
