Alfonso DeCrenza, World War II Vet

Alfonso (Al) DeCrenza of Wappingers Falls, (formerly of Ossining), passed away February 10th, 2013. Al was born in Ossining to the late Alfonso and Pasqualina DeCrenza on May 28th, 1922.
On May 2nd, 1953, Al married Geraldine O’Connor, and was happily married for 53 years. Gerry predeceased Al on Sept 19th, 2007.
He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945, with the 7th Cavalry Division, 44th Tank Battalion. He was the Owner of Al’s Auto Wrecking, and later worked for Anchor Motors, before joining Readers Digest where he retired in 1984.

Al was an avid golfer, collector, and trader of antiques.
Devoted Father of Michael DeCrenza of Wappingers, Robert (Amy) DeCrenza of Lincondale, and twin daughters Judy (Tom) Bolt of Fishkill, Janet (Jack) Purdy of Ossining, including eight grandchildren, great grand children, and many nieces and nephews. In addition he is survived by his brother Joe from San Pedro, California and Carmella DeCrenza of Port Ewen. He was predeceased by his siblings Lucy Abbitella, Sam and Mary Pinkham.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 PM at Dorsey. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine’s in Ossining. The interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Peekskill.
