Allen W. Gantz: Businessman, Firefighter, OVAC Captain

The Ossining native was 74.

Allen W. Gantz died peacefully on June 1, 2018 Weill Cornell Hospital in NYC at the age of 74, with his
family by his side.

Allen is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Helen Gordon Gantz of Ossining, NY. Daughters Amy Gantz-Cheatham (Lenny) of Silver Spring, MD; Natalie Zembrzuski (Kenneth) of Southington, Ct; his sisters Roberta Roberts, NY and Jean Flintzer (Don), Fl; and brother Harvey Kriegsman (Denise), FL, brother in laws Harvey Gordon (Marjorie), NM, Harold Gordon, NY, grandchildren Zachary, Hailey, Camryn and Jared; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Allen was born September 14, 1943 in Ossining, NY. He is pre-deceased by his parents Benjamin and Irene Gantz and step mother Ruth Gantz, mother-in- law Rose Gordon and sister Harriet Cooper.

He and Helen married June 4, 1966. Allen was the sole proprietor of Miller’s Cleaners for 48 years, a
Constable for the Town and Villages of Ossining for over 30 years as well as a court officer for Ossining
and the town of Yorktown. Allen was also a volunteer and lifelong member of Ossining Fire Department,
Hose Co. #1 and Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps where he served for over 56 years and during that
period he was Captain for two terms.

Allen will be loved and missed by all who knew him. May his memory be a blessing to all.

A funeral service was held in Allen’s memory on Tuesday, June 5th at Dorsey Funeral Home.
