Assemblywoman Galef highlights the Alzheimer's Association on "Dear Sandy"

Assemblywoman Sandy Galef discusses the resources available to Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers on this episode of “Dear Sandy.” Jonelle Ward, Director of Outreach for the Alzheimer’s Association of the Hudson Valley, describes the resources of her organization and tells people how to access them while Catherine Wilson describes the difficult realities of being a caregiver and how helpful these resources are. Ward and Wilson also talk about the successful efforts that are being made to expand understanding of the disease, and recognition of its symptoms, even as doctors still search for a cure.

“There are programs the state sponsors to give respite to caregivers and recognize the dislocations and adjustments required of families,” said Galef. “There is no doubt more needs to be done, but I am delighted to highlight the invaluable help that is currently available to sufferers through the work of the Alzheimer’s Association of the Hudson Valley and their friends and associates.
