Assemblywoman Sandy Galef Hosts columnist David McKay Wilson on “Speak Out”

Assemblywoman Galef and Journalist David McKay Wilson discuss determining if your news source is real or fake

Assemblywoman Sandy Galef speaks with David McKay Wilson of The Journal New and Tax Watch Columnist about the issue of real and fake news.

On this episode, Sandy and David discuss the different types of fake news and how to determine real news from fake news. They discuss the “red flags” of fake news and what makes something a fake story. Quotes from a reliable person or citation of a reliable document are usually a quick way to determine is something is real or fake. David McKay Wilson speaks from his many years as a reporter and a columnist on what makes a truthful story and how to avoid the fake ones.

“Throughout all of modern times there has been this idea of propaganda,” David says on the foundations of false news, “The barrier for disseminating news has been lowered, it won’t cost you anything to have a website or to post on Facebook.”
