Event Details

Croton Free Library, 171 Cleveland Dr, Croton-On-Hudson, NY, 10520

Nick Schumatoff, a former curator of Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, sought to preserve the Lenape culture and dialect. In the 1970s, Schumatoff and a team of researchers went to Oklahoma to record, preserve, and learn from the voices of the last remaining Unami-speaking Lenape population. This is their story, with archival audio, presented by Jean Klurfeld, Assistant Curator at Croton Point Park.

Thursday, May 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the Croton Free Library.

This free event is sponsored by Croton Friends of History.
