Candidates Debate in Croton Oct. 13

Those running for the trustee and mayor posts will also take questions from the audience.

Voters in Croton-on-Hudson have a chance to learn more about the candidates for village offices when the League of Women Voters hosts its second candidates’ night Oct. 13.

A public debate featuring candidates for the offices of Mayor and Trustee will be held in the Ottinger Room at the Croton Free Library, located at 171 Cleveland Drive.

Doors will open to the public at 6:30 p.m. Croton residents are encouraged to arrive by 6:45 if they wish to submit a written question to the candidates. The debate will begin at 7 p.m

Democrats Mayor Leo Wiegman and Trustees Andrew Levitt and Maria Slippen are running for re-election. They are challenged by Croton United candidates Dr. Gregory Schmidt, Bob Anderson and Ken Walsh.

The League of Women Voters of the Rivertowns is sponsoring the debate; the League is providing an independent timekeeper and moderator.

“The Rivertowns League is pleased to be returning to Croton for our second candidates’ night; we hope for another good turnout.” said Susan Goodwin, President of the Rivertowns League.

This event is free and open to the public. It will also be televised and air on the Local Government Public Access channel 78.
