Croton-Harmon Voters To Decide On 2018-19 School Budget

There are three additional propositions on the ballot May 15.

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — Voters in the Croton Harmon school district will be going to the polls Tuesday, May 15 to have their say on the budget for the 2018-19 school year. There are three other propositions on the ballot as well.

The proposed spending package is $47,172,204, up 1.45 percent from the current year. The tax levy increase is 1.18 percent, below the state's property tax cap.

The district is completing the first year of a five-year strategic plan.

"I am happy to report that we are right on target regarding what we hoped to accomplish in year one," schools Superintendent Edward R. Fuhrman, Jr. wrote in the budget brochure. "I am pleased to report that the proposed 2018-19 budget provides us with the resources to continue to move forward. It is a fiscally responsible budget. In tough financial times, the board of education and administration are presenting a budget that preserves all programs in the school district."

  • Voter approval of the Croton Free Library tax levy in the amount of$851,260
  • The election of two candidates as Board of Education trustees.
  • Voter approval for the purchase of transportation vehicles, not to exceed $295,000.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 15 in the Croton-Harmon High School gym.
