Croton Lions Award Two Scholarships

The Croton Lions Club, formed in 1939, part of the greatest service organization in the world with over 4 million members in 206 countries worldwide, is continuing its long tradition of honoring and awarding scholarships to Croton High School graduates.

This year, two 2022 graduates were each awarded a check for $5,000.00 toward their college expenses.

Tyler Evans is going to Alfred State College to study Veterinary Medicine. One of the requirements for applying for the scholarship is community service. Tyler volunteered over 400 hours, far above the requirement of 40 hours.

Rose Schupack-Diaz is attending Pitzer College, a private non-profit school located in Southern California, specializing in international studies. She is fluent in multiple languages and accumulated over 700 volunteer community hours.

The Lions serve our community in many ways, including maintaining a Medical Lending Closet (providing wheelchairs, walkers, etc.), supporting the Croton Caring Committee, the Croton Food Pantry and the Blue Path service dog project for autistic children, and helping the Harry Chapin Run for Hunger project, as well as other projects as needs arise, and raising funds for their work through the yearly Croton Lions Club Christmas Tree Sale.
