Croton Shuts Village Hall Due To COVID-19 Spike
Westchester County reports 129 active cases in Croton plus 604 in neighboring Cortlandt, 620 in Ossining and 924 in Yorktown.
CROTON-ON-HUDSON, NY — Croton village officials closed have closed village hall to the public due to the jump in local COVID-19 cases.
According to Westchester County's coronavirus dashboard, there are 129 active cases in Croton-on-Hudson, 14 of them new as of Monday. Nearby, there were 604 cases reported in Cortlandt, 94 of them new; 620 cases in Ossining, 124 of them new; and 924 cases in Yorktown, 107 of them new.
Cases have skyrocketed in Westchester since Halloween.

"Due to the growing concerns regarding the sharp incline in Coronavirus cases in our community, the Municipal Building will be closed to the public effective immediately, starting today December 29, 2021, until Tuesday, January 4th, 2022," they said in a notice to residents.
That doesn't mean a halt in village business.

- There is a secure drop-box outside the Municipal Building entrance that may be accessed at any time to submit documents to the Village.
- Utility bills have been sent out. Bills must be paid via our online service, via the secure drop-box outside the Village entrance, or by sending in your check by mail. We will not be accepting cash payments during this time. If you have any questions regarding this please call the office at (914) 862-1419.

According to state data, 85.9 percent of Croton residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, putting the village in the middle for Westchester County.
On Friday, village officials will distribute 400 boxes of KN95 masks allocated from Westchester County.
Distribution will be at the Croton-Harmon Train Station, Lot G, beginning at 1 p.m. and continuing until 3 p.m. or while supplies last. Distribution will be a on first come, first-served basis, with one box of masks per Village of Croton-on-Hudson household. Each box contains five KN95 masks. The distribution will operate as a drive-thru; please wear a mask when interacting with a Village staff member.
Each household desiring a kit should send one household member with proof of residence. Residents should not carpool.
"Please bear in mind we have more than 3,000 households in the Village and many of them may want masks," village officials said.
