Here are some of the activities for this upcoming weekend in Westchester's parks.

Annual Firefly Festival: 6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. Trailside Nature Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Cross River: (914) 864-7322. It’s that time of year to witness nature’s fireworks. Catch fireflies and enjoy activities and crafts. Bring a chair or blanket. Meet at the Meadow parking area.

SATURDAY, JULY 13
Hike Du Jour: 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Croton Point Park, One Croton Point Ave., Croton-on-Hudson: (914) 862-5290. Join the naturalist for an exploration of Croton Point’s ecology, history, pre-history and geology. Meet at the entrance to the RV area. Parking fees apply.
Volunteer Corps Work Day: Summer Ecology Walk: 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Edith G. Read Wildlife Sanctuary, Playland Park, Rye: (914) 967-8720. Help with invasive-plant removal, trail work, beach cleanup and more. A great way to have fun, get some exercise and give something back to the earth.
Family Fun Day: Noon – 4 p.m. Saxon Woods Pool, White Plains: (914) 995-4480. Music, dance, fun and games all afternoon. Free admission with pool fee. Rain date: July 14.

Playland Latin Palooza Spectacular: Noon. Playland Park, Playland Parkway, Rye: (914) 813-7010. Concert featuring Playland DJ, Longe, Penelope Robin, Strings ’n’ Skins, and Genessa & The Selena Experience. Free with admission to park.
