Frances W. Ferris: Longtime Ossining Resident

During World War II, she was a "Rosie the Riveter" at Eastern Aircraft.

Frances Olga Wistrand Ferris, of Ossining, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Phelps Memorial Hospital. Frances was born in Mount Kisco, on December 1, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Ernst and Catherine (Casey) Wistrand. She was 91.

Frances was raised in White Plains and during World War II, she was a “Rosie the Riveter” at Eastern Aircraft in N. Tarrytown. She married Raymond Ferris on May 12, 1947 in White Plains. She then moved to Ossining in 1955 with her family. Frances was a retired supervisor with the N.Y.S. Division of Unemployment in White Plains for over 50 years.

Mrs. Ferris is survived by her five children, Melanie, (Roger) Rowe, Sharon (Jack) Powers, Raymond (Lorraine) Jr., Jeffrey, and Kimberly Ferris; five grandchildren Scott and Craig Rowe, Brian and Erica Ferris and Howard Powers; five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond on Sept. 8, 1989 and her siblings John Wistrand and Ann Dixon.

The services will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 10am in the Chapel at Ferncliff Cemetery. Hartsdale NY. The interment will be held privately.
