On Thursday, September 13, Village of Ossining residents have an opportunity to participate in our local election process by choosing who they feel should serve a two-year term as Mayor for the Village of Ossining.
My vote, with unwavering support, will be for our current Mayor, Victoria Gearity.
At a time when emotions are raw with regard to how we feel about national and local politics, it's necessary to step back and think about who will best carry out the responsibilities that come with that elected role in a manner commensurate with one’s vision.
We see national politics unfolding and staid incumbents losing to the new kid on the block with a fresh, progressive voice, but this is not a mirror to Ossining. Gearity has worked hard these past four years to learn how to best manage and improve our Village government, and she has made important progressive strides in a short time.
From an environmental perspective, she has not only supported every Green Ossining initiative, she has been a partner and a cheerleader. Be reminded that her first foray in Village government was on the Environmental Advisory Committee, where I first met her and appreciated that she too cared about our environmental resources.
I could go on about my support and appreciation for her efforts, involvement, and marked leadership success with regards to open government, local taxes, and inter and intra municipal relationships. This is not a marketing campaign with promises being made for a better tomorrow. She has created a track record of valuable work that speaks for itself.
Gearity isnt using her position as Mayor as a stepping stone in her political career She is fully dedicated to serving our community with intelligence and integrity.
Gearity should continue being our Mayor, and I hope you will stand with me in support.
