Have Your Say: Join The Ossining Town Zoning Board

Residents of the "town outside" are preferred.

OSSINING, NY — Want to have a hand in the decisions made about land use and development in Ossining? The town is seeking volunteers to sit on its Zoning Board of Appeals.

There are currently two vacancies on the board — one full member and one alternate member.

Requisite experience includes: architecture, engineering, land use, development, or another related field. Applicants must be a resident of the Town of Ossining, and residency in the unincorporated area — the "town outside" — is preferred.

The Zoning Board of Appeals hears applications relating to:

  • Interpretation of Zoning Code or Zoning Map
  • Variance with regard to permitted uses
  • Variance with regard to area requirements for building lots
  • Special Permits as dictated by zoning district

The Zoning Board usually meets the first and/or third Monday of the month starting at 7:30 p.m. However, the Board is convened only if there is an application on file two weeks prior to that date.

Meetings are currently on Zoom in accordance with state authority, but when that expires, the meetings will be held at the John-Paul Rodrigues Operations Center, 101 Route 9A.
