Hazardous Outlook Posted For Hudson Valley Aug. 13
Severe thunderstorms could bring large hail and damaging winds, the National Weather Service predicts.

Across the Hudson Valley, humidity will rise and a few showers and thunderstorms are possible. Then intense showers and storms will become increasingly likely by late Tuesday.
"The issues begin to arrive overnight, as a disturbance from the northwest approaches," said Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.
The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties:

Severe thunderstorm development is possible Tuesday and Tuesday night. The primary threats are damaging winds and large hail. There is also a flash flood threat for the area, with torrential rainfall likely in any storms that develop.
But Marra and Potter disagree. "We’re not anticipating severe weather in the Hudson Valley, largely due to the expectation of low clouds and scattered rain showers. This should help stabilize the atmosphere in our area… enough to prevent severe weather anyway. We could certainly still see a T-Storm or two, mixing in with the scattered showers," they wrote.
Heavy rain does seem likely. It could be a repeat of last week's downpour, which brought one to two inches to much of the lower Hudson Valley.
