Hendrick Hudson Library Celebrates Grand Re-Opening of New Children’s Room with Community Wide Event
Event from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony 12:30 p.m.

The Hendrick Hudson Free Library in Montrose is hosting a special event for the whole community to mark the Grand Re-Opening of their newly renovated Children’s Room. The event, which will take place on Monday, October 9th will feature an official ribbon cutting ceremony followed by many free events for the whole family, a variety of vending trucks and a raffle for a handmade quilt. Several local dignitaries such as Assemblywoman Sandy Galef, County Legislator John Testa and George Oros, Director of Economic Development/Special Advisor to the County Executive will be speaking at the event. TD Bank is a partial sponsor for the Grand Re-Opening event which will be held from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Columbus Day with the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 12:30 p.m.
The free events for the day include Face Painting, Balloon Animals, a Child ID station, and several Bounce Castles for kids. Children's author Jerry Pinkney will be on hand signing his books which will be available for purchase. Vending Trucks will be offering all kinds of food including: Put Some Meat on Your Bones-grilled cheese, Firedogs-hot dogs, and Ice Cream. Each attendee at the event will receive a free ticket for either a Grilled Cheese sandwhich or a Hot Dog and one for ice cream treat. The library will also be raffling off a beautiful quilt that was handmade by library patrons who attended a special 4-part workshop at the library. The raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each or 6 for $5.
According to Jill Davis, Library Director for Hendrick Hudson, the library staff has been preparing for this exciting event for months and is looking forward to marking this milestone for the library. “We are so excited to reveal this beautiful brand new, state of the art Children’s Room with a Grand Re-Opening event the whole community can enjoy,” said Davis.
