Ms. Bastis, a former Briarcliff Manor resident, was a dedicated volunteer as well as a teacher and real-estate agent.
Obituary for JoAnn Bastis
Graduated from Pennsylvania State University and received her MBA from New York
University. She worked as a teacher for many years and after raising her two children worked as a real estate broker at Holmes and Kennedy in Westchester, NY more than 16 years.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her son Alexander G. Bastis. She was dedicated to the Junior League of Northern Westchester and many local organizations promoting the health and welfare of children. JoAnn Bastis was an avid gardener and enjoyed the creative efforts of making her home welcoming.

JoAnn is survived by her husband Si Spiegel, her daughter Christina Bastis Maguire and her husband Michael R. Maguire, her brother Joseph Guokas and sister Patricia Guokas and her granddaughter Meaghan R. Maguire, as well as Kazuko, Ray, and Tamio Spiegel.
The family would like to thank Victoria Home, Ossining, NY for their devoted care.
