Job Market Continues Hot In The Hudson Valley
In June, outside of New York City, the unemployment rate was at its lowest level on record.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The job market continued to be hot in the lower and mid-Hudson Valley, where unemployment rates were around 3 percent in June, according to the state Labor Department.
Outside of New York City, the unemployment rate remained at 3.1 percent, its lowest level on record (current records date back to 1976). In the Hudson Valley:
- Dutchess 3.1 percent
- Orange 3.2
- Putnam 2.9
- Rockland 2.8
- Ulster 3.1
- Westchester 3.2
The number of private sector jobs in New York State increased over the year by 19,700, or 0.2 percent, to 7,982,700 in June 2022.

New York state exceeded the nation in private sector job growth in the 12 months ending in June 2022, up by 5.7 percent compared to the national rate of 4.8 percent. In the Hudson Valley, private sector jobs grew fastest in the Westchester-Orange-Rockland metro area, at 4.1 percent.
