To the Editor:

Melissa Banta is a vital choice for the Ossining School Board. I have proudly worked alongside Melissa on the school board and have seen firsthand her collaborative and evidence-based decision-making approaches at all times. Melissa’s commitment and dedication to significantly improving the lives of all children is seen in everything she does.

During Melissa’s tenure, she has been part of shepherding our schools through a global pandemic, advocating for the historic foundation aid that came to fruition to help our schools, keeping school taxes essentially flat, renewing a strongly agreed upon educators’ contract, and increasing graduation rates and mental health supports.

As a strong and effective leader, Melissa is not afraid to have the difficult conversations and does so while taking everyone’s viewpoint into consideration as she formulates her decision. Melissa is always meticulously prepared, collaborative, and conscientious. She is first to ask for the supporting data for any decision that comes to the board and thoughtfully analyzes that information to come to a very well-informed decision.

Melissa is clearly dedicated and deeply committed to making sure our schools are top-notch and that every student is given the opportunity to have a successful and meaningful school journey and beyond.

I know when re-elected she will continue forward with her passion and dedication as an outstanding board member. Please join our family in voting for Melissa Banta on Tuesday, May 17th at the OHS gym.

Note: I am a member of the Ossining Board of Education and expressing my personal opinion as an Ossining school district resident and not representing the Ossining school board.
