Letter To The Editor: Keep Gearity And Herrera
The writer is an Ossining resident.

Letter to the Editor:
Ossining is fortunate to have two progressive, well-intentioned candidates for mayor. There is much to weigh when considering who to support and who to vote for. On one hand we have Omar Herrera – a young upstart Democratic candidate who is not afraid to shake things up, and he shares his opponent’s stance on transparency in government. Herrera is a 28-year old firebrand, a life-long resident, and a strong voice for our Latino community.
On the other hand is the Democratic incumbent – Mayor Victoria Gearity. Mayor Gearity is more experienced and measured than her young and ambitious opponent. She’s cautious in her approach, and as a result she has become known for performing a deep dive when researching a problem and the solutions that accompany it. Mayor Gearity is an Ossining home owner, her children attend the Ossining schools, and her husband recently opened a business downtown. She’s in this community for the long haul, so Ossining’s best interests are her best interests.

The obvious solution is to keep them both.
A vote for Gearity for Mayor will ensure that the Village of Ossining will have a governing board that produces a balance of thoughtful, inclusive initiatives that look to the future while addressing problems at hand. Trustee Herrera will automatically remain on the board and continue to gain more experience that will further his undeniably bright, political future as an outspoken, progressive candidate. Best of all, Ossining benefits from the diversity of their combined perspectives, talents and vision.
