Letter to the Editor: Ossining School District Budget

Budget Supports Vital Educational Programs and Capital Improvements.

Dear Editor:

As representatives of the Ossining Union Free School District Board of Education, we urge your participation in the upcoming school district budget vote on May 21st. This pivotal decision directly impacts the educational landscape of our community and the future of our children.
The proposed budget for the 2024-2025 school year stands at $180,265,817 million. Within this framework, there is a projected 3.28% tax levy increase, necessitating the utilization of reserves, fund balance, and a reduction of $2,418,650 from ongoing expenses. We assure you that this reduction is being addressed with careful consideration, prioritizing student-facing positions, maintaining class sizes, optimizing scheduling efficiencies, and accommodating retirements and resignations where feasible.

It is our duty to uphold the quality of programs and resources available to our students while navigating these necessary budget adjustments. Despite the need to trim expenses, we remain dedicated to providing enriching educational opportunities that support the growth and success of every student within our district.

  • District-Wide Lockdown System Upgrades
  • Ossining High School Student Entrance Doors
  • Brookside School Fire Alarm Replacement

These projects are essential investments in the well-being and security of our students and staff members.
