Local Design Firm Brands Image for Nostalgic Ice Cream Shop

Croton Design firm Hudson Valley Graphic Design has created hundreds of brands for local businesses for the past 20 years but this summer the team had the fun task of creating a logo and mascot for a throwback old fashioned ice cream stand. Westchester residents can’t miss the tiny standalone soft serve ice cream shop covered in bright pink and black cow spots as they drive by on Route 202 in Cortlandt Manor. The branding project for the award winning design team continues as customers participate in contests and other creative social media promotions created by them for the nostalgic eatery.

Several months back, Hudson Valley Graphic Design was approached by The Daily Moos co-owners Frank Realbuto and Robert Cavone with the intention of updating the brand for their other business Daily Bagel Café. Located off to the side of the building hosting the bagel cafe was a small former ice cream stand that once served as a Carvel store. The entrepreneurs had always dreamed of turning it back into an ice cream stand and calling it Daily Moos to coordinate with Daily Bagel. This was the beginning of the interesting project for the design firm whose job was to create a sub-brand out of Daily Moos that would match Daily Bagel Cafés new rebranded look. The team conducted a character study and gave the Daily Moos cow mascot a distinct personality and created the current “Name Our Cow” contest through Facebook where one lucky winner will get to pick the name for the new cartoon cow that’s becoming a local celebrity. Hudson Valley Graphic Design is now managing the Daily Moos social media marketing and customers can follow them on Facebook for all kinds of promotions and updates. Customers have lined up this summer season to get a little taste of the variety of soft serve ice cream flavors offered at Daily Moos and enjoy the old fashioned fun. “Daily Moos is a fun upbeat brand with lots of personality,” said Janeen Violante, owner of HVGD. “Our team enjoyed creating this unique nostalgic brand and we are proud of the outcome, especially the eye-catching design painted on the building by our own son.”
