Memorial Service For William Cowan Set For Saturday

OSSINING, NY — A memorial service for William Cowan is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul’s on the Hill Campus of Grace Church, 40 Ganung Drive.

Cowan was a dedicated member of St. Paul's for almost 50 years, singing in the choir and at various times taking on the duties of vestry warden, Sunday school supervisor, and treasurer.

He served for four years as Board Chair of Interfaith Council for Action, a local housing organization in Ossining, and was helpful in the founding of other local organizations such as Job's Refuge and the Ossining Food Pantry.

Cowan, born 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, died of pneumonia Dec. 8, 2021 at CVPHSub-Acute Rehab in Plattsburgh NY. He is survived by his younger brother, Ross, his wife, Lisa Gibson, daughters Kathen,Jennifer and Christina, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
