Mike Risko Music Announces Exciting New Lineup of Fall Classes

WHAT: Registration is open for award-winning private music instruction for all ages, levels and instruments, as well as group classes at Mike Risko Music. In addition to private 30, 45 or 60-minute music instruction on piano, guitar, drums, voice, bass, strings, brass, and woodwinds, Mike Risko Music offers:

Disney’s The Lion King KIDS: Singers, actors, and musical theater enthusiasts in grades 1 through 9 are invited to register for Mike Risko Music School’s fall 2016 musical theater production, Disney’s Lion King KIDS; and kids ages 4 and 5 can participate in the junior chorus. Rehearsals begin September 6 and run through mid-December. There will be two performances – on Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11.

Rock Star Vocal Program: These group voice classes teach healthy singing techniques that are unique to singing contemporary music and focus on performance techniques and equipment essential for the pop/rock singer. Through vocal exercises and use of popular music, singers learn important fundamentals of singing while building strength and stamina. Along with vocal skills, students gain confidence through performances, With a final performance at the end of each session. Regular classes are available for ages 8 and up, while Rock Star Junior classes are available for pre-k, kindergarten, first and second Graders.

Rock Band Workshops: Kids will have the opportunity to learn how to be in a band, to collaborate, work together as a team and shine as an individual within a group. Under the guidance of a musical coach, kids will play their instrument of choice in a band of their own as they prepare for their very own gig in just nine weeks. Bands are put together based on age and level. All instruments and voice are welcome.

Pre-K Musical Discovery: This parent accompanied class introduces children to music through singing, creative movement and musical games. Pre-k aged children will have the opportunity to try different instruments and learn about all different styles of music. This class is offered to children ages, 2, 3 and 4.

Adult Rock Band Workshops: Adults will have the opportunity to be in their very own rock band. The Rock Band Workshops for adults are offered in the evenings with rehearsals just once a week and a final gig.

Jazz Band Workshops (for adults and kids): If you've always wanted to play in a jazz band, now is your chance. All instruments and voice levels are welcome to join this exciting class. Students will learn standard jazz tunes, get to play with other musicians, and read chords and music. At the end of the session you will have the opportunity to perform at a local jazz club

Mic Technique Workshops: Microphones are an essential tool for a singer and using a microphone correctly is imperative to protect your voice and perfect your performance. In this workshop you will gain all the knowledge of how to properly use a microphone. There are no pre-requisites for this workshop, although voice lessons are recommended.
